Accoya Color Grey

Natural Wood.Engineered Performance.Iconic Grey Design.

Accoya Colour Grey, supplied by Britton Timbers, combines the authentic warmth and texture of real wood with full-colour performance engineered for Australia’s climates. With its deep grey hue coloured through to the core and the advanced acetyl-modification process of Accoya, this product delivers premium aesthetics and enduring durability, whether used on coastal homes, pool surrounds, or architectural façades.

  • Coloured Through to Core – The rich grey tone is infused throughout every board, meaning cuts, edges and weathering maintain the same premium look.
  • Exceptional Durability & Stability – Built for Australia’s sun, humidity and coastal exposure: minimal movement, long-lasting performance, and peace-of-mind warranties.
  • Low-Maintenance Elegance – With the colour embedded and the wood engineered for minimal wear, this product requires significantly less upkeep than conventional exterior timbers.
  • Sustainably Sourced & Non-Toxic – FSC® certified and crafted via a non-toxic process, Accoya supports green building practices while delivering high-end aesthetics and performance.

Backed by a 25-year warranty for decking and a 50-year warranty for cladding, Accoya Colour Grey delivers confidence that lasts. Designed to perform in Australia’s coastal, tropical and high-UV environments, it offers outstanding resistance to rot and weathering for decades of reliable service.

Accoya Colour Grey is engineered to stay true to form. It resists swelling, shrinking and warping — ensuring boards remain smooth, even and secure through Australia’s seasonal extremes. That means tight joins, lasting alignment and consistent visual appeal year-round.

The rich grey tone runs through the entire depth of each board — not just the surface. This ensures consistent colour even after cutting, machining or wear, meaning less maintenance and a beautifully natural look that won’t fade unevenly over time.

Manufactured from FSC®-certified softwood and modified through a non-toxic process, Accoya Colour Grey is safe for people, pets and the planet. It’s an environmentally responsible choice that meets Australia’s growing demand for sustainable, low-impact building materials.

Solid-coloured wood

What lies behind the dyeing process of Accoya Color Grey? What makes coloured-through wood so special?

Accoya Color Grey is grey-dyed Accoya wood. Being coloured-through means that the wood is dyed all the way from the surface to the core. This has the advantage that the grey wood can be processed (sawed, planed, etc.) without losing its consistent anthracite-grey colour.

The colour cannot wear off or peel away as it can with surface coatings, which is a significant benefit.

The dyeing of Accoya Color Grey is the result of years of research and development. Following the acetylation process, the newly produced Accoya wood undergoes an additional dyeing process. An organic, non-toxic pigment is used for colouring.

The Danish Technological Institute, as an independent testing body, has examined Accoya Color Grey and confirmed that no harmful elements are used. Thus, the wooden terraces are completely safe for both people and the environment.

Finishes & Design Options

Britton Timbers provides Accoya Colour Grey in a variety of profiles, lengths and surface textures to suit both residential and commercial projects. The product arrives pre-grey, so whether you wish to keep it natural or apply a clear protective coating, you’ll benefit from the consistent colour and excellent coating performance over time.

What is Accoya Wood?

Accoya modified wood has become the lumber industry benchmark when it comes to performance and sustainability. No other wood offers the same combination of durability, stability and versatility. Sustainably sourced, and with a low total lifetime carbon cost, Accoya actively contributes to a circular, bio-based economy and is one of the few truly sustainable building materials.

Accoya is produced in both Kingsport, USA and Arnhem, the Netherlands. In this video, we take a closer look at the groundbreaking science behind Accoya wood. Through a precise acetylation process using acetic anhydride, combined with just the right heat and pressure, we increase moisture-resistant acetyl groups and reduce the water-attracting hydroxyl groups. This unique patented technology turns fast-growing, sustainable wood into an ultra-high performance building material.
