The Blake Street project in Rose Bay is a testament to sophisticated, modern residential architecture by MHN Design Union. This high-end home required a façade material that was not only aesthetically striking and contemporary but also provided exceptional durability and sustainability, perfectly complementing the design’s refined coastal setting.
Britton Timbers were delighted to supply the premium timber for this project: Abodo Vulcan Cladding.
Abodo Vulcan was the superior choice for the external cladding due to its unique combination of environmental responsibility and outstanding performance:
- Thermal Modification: Vulcan is created using a thermal modification process that transforms sustainably-grown New Zealand plantation timber, dramatically increasing its stability and durability (Class 1 durability). This ensures the cladding remains straight and true with minimal movement, even in exposed conditions.
- Lightweight & Workable: The modification process also results in a lightweight timber, making it easier and more efficient for installation.
- Contemporary Aesthetic: The timber’s clear, consistent grain profile and ability to take a beautiful dark, subtle finish provided the precise, clean lines MHNDU required to achieve a distinct, modern texture on the façade.
Our supply of Abodo Vulcan helped the design team realise a timeless, high-performance exterior. The cladding not only provides a natural warmth and texture essential to the design but also offers a durable, low-maintenance shell that will look spectacular for decades. The Blake Street residence stands as a prime example of how sustainable, modern timber products can be integrated into elite residential architecture.
