The Sunshine Beach House (also referred to as Maher Terrace) by Kelder Architects is a sophisticated, multi-level family home nestled on a hillside in Noosa, Queensland. Designed to serve as both a holiday retreat and an eventual permanent residence, the house demanded a material palette that was robust enough for the exposed coastal environment yet offered natural warmth and a sense of seamless indoor-outdoor living.

Abodo Vulcan was selected for its exceptional ability to manage the twin demands of the coastal climate and the architects’ high design standards:
- Coastal Durability: Located near the beach and surrounded by coastal forest, the structure required a long-lasting, reliable skin. Vulcan is a thermally modified timber with Class 1 durability, making it highly resistant to rot, decay, and pests—essential for longevity in a harsh Queensland environment.
